Geometry: Single flute, upward spiral
Material: Solid carbide
Min Cut Diameter: 1mm
Max Cut Diameter: 12mm
Use for: Profile cutting and pocketing in all rigid plastics, woods and foams
Belin Single Flute Upward Spiral cutters are designed to deliver an excellent cut finish to most types of rigid plastic materials such as acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, nylon, etc. They are also very effective for use on woods and foams. The upward spiral geometry ejects swarf and dust toward the top of the cutter, making waste-material removal easy with a quality extraction system. During cutting, the spiral flute tends to lift the material, so a good work-holding system is important to eliminate any movement or vibration which can cause inaccuracy and poor cut quality.
Belin is recognised worldwide for the quality of its cutting tools. By starting with the best quality solid carbide and using flexible and modern machining centres, Belin manufactures accurate router bits of consistent high quality producing outstanding cutting results and providing excellent durability.
This type of tool is recommended for use on:
All types of rigid plastic materials such as acrylic, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, acetal.
When used in a suitable machine and with the right cutting parameters this tool can produce a smooth, near polished finish on most types of cast acrylic sheet.
They can also be used on additional materials with varying results. Other uses include:
Woods including MDF, plywood, chipboard and all natural hard and soft woods
AXYZ recommends using tools specifically designed for each material and application.
Feeds and Speeds
Typical settings for the 6mm (1012A-6) tool profile cutting acrylic are:
Feed rate: Approx 3m/min
Spindle rpm: 22,000 - 24,000
Max cut depth: 8mm
NOTE: These values should be used for guidance only. Under most conditions, they will be a reliable starting point. With experience, you may well find that they can be improved to better suit specific machining applications.
These tools are very hard and wear-resistant but they are susceptible to damage caused by careless handling. Always store tools in individual packaging to avoid damage caused by contact with other tooling. Even a very small chip in the cutting edge will cause unwanted marks on the workpiece and lead to faster tool wear.
